Reviews of Vile Village, the (2001)

This is definitely not the best series. Let me give you a piece of advice. When you are reading this series, try to spread them out and not read them to close together. Otherwise they can get a little repetetive and you will not get everything out of them that you should. Here is why I did not like this book as much as the others.
1) it was not as exciting as the previous ones. maybe this was because i read 5, 6, and then 7 in a close time span or maybe it was because the former two were so good, it did not meet the expectations.
2) while it held some humourous anecdotes, the majority of it was a little tiresome.

This book marks a dramatic turning point in the series -- and in case you hadn't guessed, things are only going to get worse for the Baudelaires. Some genuinely heartwrenching scenes, and some even more maddening hints about Lemony Snicket's past.
