Reviews of Grave Peril (2001)
Review by mojosmom (2004-05-10)
Quite the "Perils of Pauline" of supernatural conflict, this book has a thin plot that seems to be merely a thread from which to hang fight after fight between the wizard Harry Dresden and ally, Michael the knight with the sword of god, and various vampires and demons. Pretty boring after the first half-dozen or so nasty events.
Butcher gains points for a spell for lighting candles involving the words, "Flicus Bicus"!
However, the book loses points for poor editing. One misspelling of "dais" as "dias" can be forgiven; but when it is continually spelled that wrong, you know that the editor was just plain ignorant.
