Reviews of Hollow Hills, the (1973)
Review by cathb (2006-04-10)
This, along with the other two books in the trilogy, The Crystal Cave and The Last Enchantment, are the story of the wizard Merlin. They tell his story from a young boy to an old man, and do, of course, include all the characters from the Arthurian legends. But the story is told from Merlin's point of view and he is written as a charismatic, romantic character. The 'magic' is subtle and natural and no pointy hats in sight! I've read this trilogy many times and I'm yet to get tired of it.
