Reviews of Blaze of Glory, a (2012)
Review by michael a draper (2012-08-07)
This is the story of the Battle of Shiloh. It tells of the days leading up to the battle and the Confederate losses prior to April 1861.
General Albert Sidney Johnston is leading the Confederates and thinks he's caught the Union forces under Grant unprepared.
He sets his forces across the river and they catch Gen Sherman's forces unaware of their advance.
Confederates win the battle on the first day but Johnston falls mortally wounded. His successor is Gen. P.T.G. Beauregard who is more cautious. He moves the forces back to Cornith and gives the Union time to regroup.
The next day, other Federal Forces arrive and push the rebels back causing great loss of life on both sides.
This is a turning point in the war where Johnstone ranks along with Stonewall Jackson as two of the greatest military leaders that the south had.
