Reviews of Kill You Twice (2012)
Review by michael a draper (2012-06-06)
Det. Archie Sheridan is recovering from his last encounter with serial killer, Gretchen Lowell.
As the story begins, Archie is at Mount Tabor Park in Portland, Oregon. He and his men are examining Jack Kelly's body. He had been murdered and tied by his wrists to a tree and appeared to have been skinned from the neck down.
His men are concerned about Archie's health. He was almost killed by Gretchen who is now at Oregon State Mental Hospital. Then Archie gets a call relayed from Gretchen's shrink. She asks for Archie's help because someone is after her child.
When Archie refuses, Gretchen contacts Archie's friend, reporter, Susan Ward. She gives Susan a detailed interview on tape where she admits to a murder in her past. In return for this exclusive, she asks Susan to tell Archie she needs his help.
Another body is found. This time it's a woman who has been burned. While Archie and his unit concentrate on these murders, there is something in Gretchen's message about having an associate in her killings. She admits that the associate went renegade and tells Archie he's responsible for the two deaths Archie is investigating.
The author writes an interesting story. The cat and mouse game is played out and the characters are correctly portrayed. The author gives added information about Gretchen's past which helps us to understand her.
