Reviews of Promises in Death (2009)

Although this is not quite as emotionally intense as the novels that immediately preceded it, this is still a good read, with Eve and Rourke searching out the killer of a cop that was going steady with Eve's favourite medical examiner. The book actually gives more of a science fictiony feel to Eve's world and while this might not necessarily be good SF, it works in context and Robb doesn't let the science fiction overwhelm the strengths of the series - the detecting work and Eve & Roarke's relationship. There were disturbing signs that Roarke might be getting broody, however...
