Reviews of Cordelia's Honor (1996)

Well, this is an omnibus of two previously published novels. I did not write reviews on the constituents, "Shards of Honor" and "Barrayar", but I essentially agree with the reviewers there.
What can be added, specifically about the omnibus, is that those two books flow so well into each other, you couldn't believe "Barrayar" was written so many years later. Bujold wrote many sequels to "Shards of Honor", just alluding to the events that occured in the time period covered in Barrayar, and then much later wrote the latter book and it fit perfectly
The Afterword by the author does shed a very interesting light on her way of writing, and in particular on the way she wrote Barrayar so late. If you already own both books, there may be little sense in buying the omnibus, but if you have not them yet, the Afterword is certainly interesting enough to choose the omnibus rather than the separate books.
