I have been looking forward to book two for the last couple of years. Wikipedia says the 1st March 2011 and its not like anyone can update that page. I hope book three does not take as long to write.

The Name of the Wind was my first read on my new Kindle! Thanks to my lovely wife for the awesome Christmas gift! I really like reading on the Kindle - I like the ability to search the book, highlight passages, and the wikipedia search and access. The book itself was the best I've read in quite a really helped restore my faith in the fantasy genre. Rothfuss has excellent storytelling skills that really grab you and keep you turning the pages. The plotting is tight and the world and characters have a lot of depth that just starts to come through (first book in a trilogy). I can't wait to read the rest of the story in books 2 and 3! 10/10

Good story, average writing. Character development is poor except for the protagonist. And the story, while entertaining, is somewhat disjointed.
As this was Rothfuss' first novel; I would actually expect improvements from the 2nd if he is actually able to develop his craft of writing with any success.

This book the first part of a trilogy following the life of a young hero, Kvothe (pronunciation similar to Quoth) and his rise from rags to infamy. I read this book a couple of years ago and I have to say it was probably one of the best written books I have ever read. It is not for somebody who wants a light read though as it is very detailed and at some times painstakingly slow. It also takes a while to pick up the pace initially but it is worth it in the end. Some people will not like this book as it's main purpose seems to be to serve as the exposition for the following two novels where the life of the hero truly unfolds. I would highly recommend this book to any fantasy fan

This is a story about a famous/infamous magician.Who maybe good or bad. There are several hints as you read but I did not finish reading it.I like books that have action and this book lacks any.I read the first 150 pages and stopped. The writer has a good feel for the character but I was bored by the slow pace.
