Reviews of Dark Light Years, the (1964)
Review by WWagner (2003-08-05)
This book is playing with the notion of values. The foreign creatures have a biology so different from the human one that almost all traditional values of mankind are turned upside down - at least those associalted with being proper in any sense. Opposed to this, agression is unknown to them, as is pain. This creates a catastrophy when the military and other die-hards begin to be interested - not only for the aliens.
I have great respect about the light and easy way the author puts seemingly unquestionable value ranks in a new perspective - thought provoking and funny!
