Reviews of Wolfen, the (1978)

Review by nzilla (2004-08-26)
This book is absolutely terrifying! I'm not usually scared by books, but this one creeped me out for days! Halfway through, the author really creates an atmosphere that is just full of paranoia and anxiety. Plus, the author explains the existence of the wolfen in such rational terms that you'll actually believe that they exist. Much of the book is like a detective novel with scenes of pure terror and even some interesting parts told from the wolves' point of view. This is so much better than the movie; I hope somebody gets around to remaking the film more like the book because it would absolutely be the best werewolf movie ever made, better than The Howling and An American Werewolf in London. This is just a wonderful short thriller for anybody who enjoys a little of the macabre. 9/10
