Reviews of Robot Who Looked Like Me, the (1978)

Review by kirwar4face (2003-04-03)
This is Sheckley at the top of his form; master of the short story. There are three stories that I don't consider first-rate (maybe you will) but most of them just get better every time I read them. Maybe 'End City' and 'Zirn Left Unguarded' are contrivances, but they're great contrivances. There are at least five- count 'em, f*i*v*e whole stories in this collection of 13 that count among the all-time great SF stories...that's more than enough to make a great collection. (For the record, those five are: Slaves of Time, A Supplicant in Space, Welcome to the Standard Nightmare, The Never-Ending Western Movie, and Silversmith Wishes.)
