Reviews of Cloud Room, the (2006)

George is a traveling software consultant who has used his itinerant lifestyle to search for the one man he truly loved, a man he abandoned in order to marry a woman. In a Seattle hotel bar, George meets a clairvoyant hustler named Mart. Initially George believes that Mart is conning him. However, this world is not as simple as George once believed.
In “The Cloud Room,” Seattle becomes a sort of dreamscape, where past and present blur and the truth can emerge at last from the lies we have told ourselves. The story is a must for anyone who knows this city and has a fondness for the late, lamented Cloud Room Bar atop the Camlin Hotel.
ParaSpheres also includes stories by luminaries such as Angela Carter, Ursula K. Le Guin and Michael Moorcock. These stories defy categorization and remind the readers that genre classifications are designed by publishers and their marketing departments.
