Reviews of Galactic Patrol (1937)

I really enjoyed this book. It has a very different flavor to it than much of contemporary science fiction; an optimism, an eager sense that good and reason will eventually triumph and that humanity will become more that it now is. It was like watching old black and white TV shows in some respects. It has become so chic to write dystopian novels of the grim future that our greed and thoughtless expansion will bring down upon us that this was a breath of fresh air, a book from an earlier time when it seemed not only impossible that we would leap to space with our best and brightest, but inevitable that we would do so.
