Reviews of Cabal (1988)

I'm not sure what it is about Cabal that makes me like it so much. There's something about Clive Barker's writing style. He paints a horrific, yet beautiful picture of the worlds he creates. Cabal is a perfect example. He tells a story of about Midian, an underground society of creatures that hide from humankind. The story follows Aaron Boone while he slowly realizes who he trully is and why Midian appeals to him so much. Though the creatures are hideous and horrible in our perception, Barker makes us realize that perhaps, they are not the ones who are so horrible afterall. I recommend this to almost anyone. Barker has gritty subject matter that may be abrasive to some readers.
