Reviews of Prestige, the (1995)
Review by ropie (2007-01-17)
At the beginning 'The Prestige' reads a bit like a piece of light fiction concerning a young man and his troublesome relationships. It soon descends into a dark and mysterious tale set in Victorian London (and abroad), repleat with unreliable narrators, fueding magicians and the astounding revelations about their public and private lives.
Perhaps Priest's most complex novel, the plot is a veritable tangled ball of twine and if you are only slightly perplexed when you finish it you will be doing well.
