Reviews of Out of This World (2001)

Normally, I don't go for anthologies. I prefer to stick to author's I know, but in this case, I'm very glad I chose it.
I chose it for J.D. Robb's 'Interlude in Death', so I'll start there. It had it all. The murder, the conflict, but more than likely because it is a short story, and there isn't enough room to flesh it out, I just didn't really feel it. Still, I have to give it an 8.
'Kinsman', by Susan Krinard. It was okay. I probably didn't like it as much as I could if I had read her other books about the telepaths, but without reading the others, I'd say it was a fairly good story. 7/10
'Immortality', by Maggie Shayne. I've read Maggie Shayne before. I liked them enough, and I liked this one. The ending really shocked me, and I had to sit and think about it, but I liked it. An 8.
And 'Magic Like Heat Across My Skin', by Laurell K. Hamilton. I loved it. Absolutely loved it. I'd not read a single Anita Blake, or any other series by her, but I am hooked. Even though I didn't understand it much - starting in the middle of a series like that is confusing - but I loved the story. I can't wait to read more!! 9/10.
I was very glad I tried this book, I got a new author to read! That is the best part of anthologies, and it makes up for the poorer parts. Overall, I gave it a 7.
