Reviews of Royal Assassin (1996)

The adventures of Fitzchivalry continue in this the second book of the Farseer Trilogy. The plot moves along at a much faster pace in this book as all major characters have already been developed in the first book. There is alot more action and court intrigue as the story is developed further with Regals plotting becoming more known to us. Fitz has to make many decisions for himself that go against the wishes of others. This leads to many plot twists and unexpected events. A better book than the first one.

I really enjoyed this book. The storyline moved along much faster than the first book. The author still did a great job on showing us the world through Fitz's eyes. At certain times I found myself disagreeing with Fitz's decisions of going against others advice and making decisions that could not just ruin his life but others close to him. I later found that this added controversy to this book which further developed the story line. There were more twists and turns in this book than the last one. There was also more controversy in the Buck Keep itself between the royal family. I also liked when Fitz was outside of Buckeep palace in his quests. The change of setting was nice and welcomed. All together I enjoyed this book a lot and thought it much better than the first book of the Farseer Trilogy.
