Reviews of Silverado (1981)

Now this is one strange beast - a Western Fantasy - that, like the duck-billed platypus, should have no right to exist in nature... but now that I've read it, I'm glad it does. This was a little cracker of a book that somehow works, even in moments such as when the two shape-shifting sorcerers have a fight... as big cats!
It's not a long book by any means, but it's packed to the rafters with minor characters, yet they're sufficiently fleshed out as to be memorable - and the action barely slows down to allow anyone to catch breath, reader included.
Sure the premise is ludicrous, but at the end of the day it's a great little pulpish read - and sometimes that's just all you need.
