Reviews of Axiomatic (1995)

These are great stories. The thing with Greg Egan stories, is they have one or both of a great idea or a tirade about the evils of religion. This collection has more of the former, "Luminous" more of the latter. Especially recomended for fans of maths or hard science- if your reaction to the title "Unstable Orbits in the Space of lies" is "that sounds cool!" read this book. If it sounds too much like school, you might still like it. Unlike other great ideas writers like Asimov, Egan has real characters and cares as much about their psycological states as what is going on physically- his other main obsession is the philosophy/physics of thought, consciousness and reality.
