Reviews of Locked Rooms (2005)
Review by mojosmom (2006-02-13)
King's lastest Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes story finds the couple in San Francisco, where Mary is planning to settle some matters involving her inheritance. As they sail from Asia to SF, Mary begins to have bad dreams, and slowly remembers events from her childhood that she had forgotten. In fact, she was in SF during the 1906 earthquake, and things happened then that may ultimately have contributed to the death of her parents and brother eight years later. Now someone may be trying to kill Mary, for reasons that reach back to those early years. With the help of a Chinese bookseller with expertise in feng shui, and an ex-Pinkerton operative named Hammett, Mary and Sherlock begin to unravel old secrets.
