Reviews of Happy Birthday, Wanda June (1971)

Kurt Vonnegut's first (and I want to say only, but don't quote me on that) play is a masterpiece. The characters and tone of the play are very similar to his other work, it simply "feels" Vonnegut, so check it out to see him masterfully blend intense drama with satire and comedy. If you're lucky enough to have a local theatre (high school/college/community) perform it, go see it. I myself am directing it in January of '06 for a local theatre "play marathon". So whether you're a theatre enthusiast, a hardcore Vonnegut fan, or anything in between, this anti-war script is definitely worth reading/watching.
