Reviews of Origin in Death (2005)
Review by johnafair (2009-02-19)
Although I've not read many of the 'In Death' series for quire a while, I've enjoyed them, and this is no different. A great book set in a New York fifty years ahead of ours still sees many of the same motives for crime - greed, jealousy, revenge, even if the reasons for the crime have a suitably SF twist...
What has changed from the earlier books is that Eve Dallas finds herself increasingly identifying with the perpetrator of the unusually neat murders, though she knows she has to find that perpetrator in an attempt to uphold the duties of her badge and to lay the ghosts of her own past.
We also get to see an unusual view of her husband, the multi-billionaire Roarke, who allows his anxiety over inviting his newly located family over for Thanksgiving to show.
