The first steps towards the creation of the Discworld are taken here. A complicated novel, with a mixture of fantasy and science fiction, coupled by the underlying questions of where humanity will spread next, and how. It's not easy reading, I can tell you that. And even though a geologist might probably understand some of the most scientific terms better, it is a novel I personally would suggest to anyone who believes they like the idea of the Discworld at large. A different aspect of Terry's literary capability, but not the least uninteresting.
