Reviews of Shadow of the Giant (2005)
Review by macjohn (2005-10-18)
Since as of right now, 2005, this is the final book in the Ender Series, I was kind of hoping for a little more closure. But similar to the way the the 4th book ended, there's a lot of room for more. After the 4th book, I was kind of hoping to see another book exploring Jane or Peter's lives. This one allows plenty of room for more.
The whole 'shadow' 4 book section of this series is excellent. This book doesn't focus on Bean as much as it had, but more on the other Battle School grads that have important roles in the world government.
I've read that OSC starts to let his religious beliefs into the later Ender books... I can see religion in there but can't tell which way he swings because of it. There are important Muslim and Catholic characters but the main characters have always been atheists (yet heavily influenced by the religious characters).
Anyway... it was a great book and better series. I'm kind of down that I'm done and have to find something else to read. I highly recommend the whole series and continue to encourage people to read them even if they don't like Sci-fi because these stories are so much more than that and focus very little on the sci-fi aspect.
