Reviews of Coma, the (2004)
Review by drache_gnar (2006-07-13)
Alex Garland's The Coma is an interesting little novel (and I mean little, as it is no more than a few hours worth of text) that, more or less, deals with our subconscious and what our minds are capable of.
The novel reminds me in a lot of ways of the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and a lot of the scenes are similar or have that same odd vibe.
My main complaint with the book is that there is no real character development whatsoever, however I then realized that it would be hard to have depth to characters when said characters do not exist or do not remember who they are.
Overall, a pretty good book.
