Reviews of Nemesis (1989)

Nemesis starts out as a fascinating mystery story dealing with the possibly future destruction of Earth, but the answer to the mystery is a little dissapointing for all its buildup and the resolution to Earth's threat seems more than a little contrived. However, Asimov does manage to create unusually complete and likable characters, which I believe to be a weak point of most of his stories. The biggest attraction, to me, is the fact that there are no clear good vs. evil black and white issues at stake in Nemesis. Everyone is simply acting as they believe best in the situations they are in. The conflict comes from the fact that nobody can quite agree on what is best for all involved. Good storytelling, but the actual plot needed some work.
