Reviews of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2005)

I remember it as if it was yesterday: me anxiously awaiting the next instalment in the Harry Potter series... It was a nice summer's day and I spent the whole day outside, sitting in the sunshine, reading the book from cover to cover (only stopping for lunch).
I'm glad it was a sunny day, as the storyline of Harry Potter becomes darker with every book, and this one is no exception. Nonetheless I didn't like this book as much as HP & the Order of the Phoenix, I found there were certain parts which got a bit boring. The end naturally is quite sad and even got me crying...

My significant other read this one before me, so we were discussing parts of the book as I read it. During the course of these discussions, we have renamed the book, "Harry Potter and the Year that Nothing Much Happens...until the END!"

Don't get me wrong, this latest installment in the Harry Potter series is still a well written and engaging novel. It's just that the story does not move along with the same energy as most of the earlier novels. The characters are still well developed and the history that we are presented with in this volume is very interesting as well. I just feel that I could have done with a lot less snogging and lot more actual events.

I'm not going to ruin any of the twists in this book by going into too much detail, but suffice it to say that I did feel that this was a decent book, it just left me feeling a bit cheated and wanting for a bit more out of it.

Oh well, not everything can be a home-run!

A good addition to the series but not my favorite.

Some of the twists were interesting while others weren't quite as good. The romance, I felt, was overdone and somewhat cheesy but it seems to have pleased many others. The ending definitely leaves you craving the final book as the Half-Blood Prince raises many questions that have yet to be answered.

If you've read the first five books, it'd be a shame to miss out on this one.

Out of every book in the series so far this one is the best. It has twists and turns that will keep you hooked. There characters developed a little from the old book and the setting was still enjoyable. The storyline was what really hooked me though. The ending to this book suprised me and disappointed me at the same time. I recommend this book.

This is the best Harry Potter book so far - such a dark, magical, sad and very descriptive book.. i could identify more with what harry potter feels, and it is one of the best things with this book..

i wont say how this book ended but it was an amazing ending.

all simply a top great book.

J K Rowling has made it again!

I liked this book, it had a nice pace considering how depressing parts of the 5th one could be.

I am ready for the series to be over, at least part 1 (books one though 7) of the school years.

She might do some with Harry as an Auror, but she might also be tired of it.

Either way, if you've come this far, read away, and if you haven't well, start at book 1 (don't mind book 2, it's the weakest I think, and by the end of book three you will be hooked)

A curious book... many unexpected things (couples finally!!!)happens, actualy many unbelievable things happens. After this book, there are two possibilities, either J.K. does the BEST series ever made by humanity, OR she will fall into silly contradictions in book 7.
I'm desperatly hoping for the first one
