Reviews of Christmas Journey, a (2003)

One of the more interesting characters in Anne Perry's Inspector Pitt series is Lady Vespasia Cumming-Gould, an elderly aristocrat who encourages Charlotte's "eccentricities" and has recently been revealed to have a rather interesting past. This novella is set in England prior to the Crimean War, when Vespasia is just past 30. A suicide occurs at a weekend house party, and Vespasia is caught up in its aftermath.
The plot is rather thin, but the book is primarily a showcase for Vespasia, as she discovers a great deal about herself, her courage, her integrity, her talent for friendship.
