Reviews of Deed of Paksenarrion, the (1992)
Review by qwicksilfer (2006-11-25)
If you like the long winded explanations of races and politics and battles and history, such as in the Lord of the Rings and the Wheel of Time, this book is not for you. Although drawing an intricate world in three dimensions, Elizabeth Moon does not squander pages upon pages with background information. There is a more balanced writing between adventure, dramatic elements, and history. Although not as epic as the Lord of the Rings, the Deed of Paksenarrion is a great fantasy novel and should be acknowledged as such. Paksenarrion's journey is filled with so much realism, I felt like I was right along there with her. A very good book!
