Reviews of Tigana (1990)

Review by Beaver (2003-08-04)
Tigana is a fantasy novel set in a pseudo medieval Italy-like world that was very intricate and detailed with a lot of backstory. The story is about an oppressed peoples quest for an identity (literally). Kay did a great job of blurring the lines between good and evil. The novel had a very sad, tragic tone to it, yet was still very readable. The characters were very well-written and had a lot of depth. It's a great story about the will of the downtrodden and the bittersweet cost of revenge, and has an interesting ending. 9/10
