Reviews of Phases of Gravity (1989)

This is one of the most boring books I've ever read.
I loved Hyperion so I decided to pick up some other Simmons works. This one was labeled 'science-fiction', so I bought it. I was fooloed - THIS IS NOT SCIENCE FICTION. The book is about an ex-astronaut, which is the only scifi-like connection to science fiction. But to me, science fiction needs to have SCIENCE in it - and this book has nothing of the sort. It is plain and simple FICTION.
Unless you're a middle-aged man going through depression and self-doubt who wants to read about other middle-aged men in the same situation, I would suggest you pass on this one. There are no big questions or answers here, no inspirations, no adventure. It is a boring jumble of past and present memories from this guy's life, which have nothing to do with science fiction.
