This is a simple rather old fashioned science fiction story, a bit like some of Amsimovs short stories- someone in the "present day" finds themselves caught up in some strange happenings, but it all gets explained at the end. Its quite enjoyable, bits of it are thrilling and the ideas are pretty good, even at this distance. The idea of having to live off reversed sugars I really liked, its fun to think what the book would have been like if set in a world of "Splenda" :)
