Reviews of God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater (1965)
Don't read this if you haven't yet read the book.
This is the most recent Vonnegut book I've read, making it my sixth so far. I've enjoyed them all. Player Piano is my least favorite and this one is my second least. It was ok, but not great. The synopsis on this site is the same as the one on Amazon, and I think it's bogus, unless I missed something huge in the story. The "noble experiment" referred to was not a premeditated experiment at all, but was actually suggested very very late in the story by writer Kilgore Trout as a creative courtroom explanation for Eliot's behavior to keep him from being found mentally insane and relieved of his control over the Rosewater Foundation.
