Reviews of Night Thoreau Spent in Jail, the (1970)
Review by spiphany (2004-12-06)
This should appeal to anyone at all interested in Thoreau or transcendentalism. This play perfectly captures Thoreau's life, his relationship with Emerson, the development of his ideas. And most of all, his struggles and conflicts.
I have one small quibble: the cover of my copy claims that this is "the most widely-produced play of our time", which I find a bit hard to believe, as prior to seeing this at the bookstore I had never even heard of it.
