Reviews of Children of Dune (1976)
Review by MuadDib (2003-03-20)
Children of Dune is final book of the trilogy portion of the Dune series that revolves around Paul Atreides, the protagonist from the first book. It is not possible to detail the plot in any matter without spoiling previous novels, but it is safe to say that none of the entire series is ever predictable. That being said, the shocks manage to feel logical and not so far flung that the reader will be distracted from the world of the novels. While many readers would like to see their favorite protagonists succeed, it is often the failure of a protaganist that makes them a powerful literary character and both Dune Messiah and Children of Dune are must reads for anybody who enjoyed the Hugo winning original and wants to conclude the saga of Paul Atreides.
