Reviews of Red Planet (1949)

Anyone who liked Stranger in a Strange Land might get a kick out of Red Planet. Heinlein had four or five different version of Mars, and the Mars of Red Planet seems to be the same one hinted at in Stranger in a Strange Land. Where Stranger only touched on the Martians because the story was based on Earth, Red Planet really gets into their society. Of course, Heinlein can't let a story go at that, he has to have a message behind the always-engaging story. This time it's the same "absentee-landlord" theme we see in Between Planets, Farmer in the Sky, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, and of course the American Revolutionary War. Science Fiction as it was meant to be.
