Reviews of White Hart, the (1979)

Review by spiphany (2003-11-18)
The style of The White Hart is very different than the later Isle books; it lacks their eerie beauty, although the beginnings of the world and its mythology are there. The White Hart is also based much more closely on Celtic myths, specifically the story of Pel Blagdon and the cauldron of immortality (changed in some details, but I know I've read it somewhere). All in all, while it is by no means terrible, I didn't find it nearly as powerful as The Silver Sun or The Black Beast, and it isn't necessary to read it to understand the other books in the series.
