Reviews of Black Cloud, the (1957)
What is remarkable in this novel is the idea for the alien. There are no alien, to my knowledge, more alien than the one in this book. Now the treatment of this fantastic idea is not as good as one could have expected. The way humans react to this close encounter is rather ridiculous. Well, humans have had absurd behaviours throughout history, but this is pushing absurdity one step further. But just for the alien, this book is worth reading.
