| Satire is a little practiced art. Who have we? Roald Dahl, Ephraim Kishon, and limited to the Dutch speaking television viewers, Van Kooten en De Bie. And just today I learned about Stephen Leacock. These are all great names within their field, so why does their field seem so small? Perhaps because good satire requires a genle touch that produces huge effects.
Dahl certainly is a master in his field. Most of his stories will stay with you forever. Both in his satire and his children's stories, he manages to make the fantastic believable, in a very likeable, tongue-in-cheek way. |
