| Larry Niven is one of the best sci-fi authors, but he's more than that. He's one of the pillars on which american sci-fi stands. I can't imagine science fiction without Niven in it - it just doesn't seem possible. Most of Niven's books happen in the same universe, known as 'Known Space', though they are often separated by years and light-years. This is the same universe where Niven's most famous book is in - Ringworld Engineers. But there are so many cool things in Known Space that you never find in 'Engineers - you have to read them all, as each book adds something you never knew before! Niven is a hard science author - he loves physics and related subjects. He is not a writer who happened to find science fiction - he is a science fiction nut who happened to find that he has talent to write. And good thing for us!
