| Lem can be a rabid social reformist, and a nearly impenetrable twister of prose, but the fact is his stories are real in a way that few novelists achive. Remember where Lem is comming from (cold war era Poland) and enjoy the sermon. If you read Polish, so much the better for you, the English translations are fine works, but Lem's voice is stronger in his native language. |
