| One of the greatest and most genius writers in American history. His writing style and subject matter has inspired countless writers including the great H.P. Lovecraft. Most of his stories will keep you with the mood of being perpetually depressed with his morose sense of mood that he adds to his stories. By doing this, he has inspired an entire sub-culture of darkly artistic writers and painters. He is certainly one of my favorites and American Literature owes him a great deal of thanks for his inspiration. |

| One of my favorite authors. He is credited with the invention of the modern detective story. As well as being an early pioneer of Science Fiction. |
