| An excellent series, no questions. I was engrossed from book one, and had to run out in the evening to get the second and third books, because I wasn't willing to wait until the next day. I don't know if I would recommend this series for kids, though - it was fairly heavy, especially at the end. |

| This is a great series. I enjoyed it as an adult but think it would have given me nightmares as a kid! Theres a very strong anti-christian element which is...strange in a childrens book. I wonder if he got in trouble :) This is the sort of book that strips away all the cozy warm assumptions of typical childrens fiction and replaces it with cold but beuatiful starkness, although the end was a bit airy-fairy new-age in some ways (This wouldn't have bothered me but I was just getting used to the starkness!) Fantastically written, better than most adult fantasy, in fact most books full stop. |
