Lighthearted, entertaining, and amusing, if sometimes rather scientifically improbable (as in Danny Dunn and the Smallifying Machine) or out of date (Danny Dunn and the Homework Machine). I have mostly listed these books under the categories "adventure" and "science" but not "science fiction" because they really aren't. While the books deal with imaginary technology, in each case, the technology is merely a vessel for the adventures of Danny and his friends. The books do not explore the larger effects of an innovation, a social development, or piece of technology on society as a whole. Also unusual as far as science fiction goes, is that they don’t take place in the far future and often the inventions are not very far from current innovations today (Danny Dunn and the Automatic House, Danny Dunn, Invisible Boy).
