Part: 9

Summary :

The novel opens with the voice of the killer: a woman who has murdered another woman. The deceased is Janis Krieger, wife of a Chilean healer named Alejandro Domingo, a fisherman whose amazing powers have brought him into the upper crust of Palm Beach, Florida, society. Across town, in a less wealthy section, Mike McCleary is shot while out jogging one fine February morning.

Videotapes, photos, and printed material all lead to the haunted Chilean, whose sister and daughter have disappeared en route to South America. Forced to submit to mysterious experiments by the men who've arranged for the kidnapping of those dearest to him, Alejandro tries to suppress his powers.

Meanwhile, Quin St. James watches her husband's tortured recovery and vows to find the shooters, aided by fellow operative John Tark, himself a man with a dark past in Latin America. All roads seem to converge at the place where Alejandro Domingo plies his powers.
