Summary
:
The idea of colonizing space around Earth in L-5 colonies is a very attractice, especially in recognition of overpopulation on this planet and the probable loss of opportunity and freedom that will come with it. Space colonies could be an important part of the solution—but such closed systems would develop their own strictures, as Michael Swanwick shows in this fascinating portrait of a colony in flux.
