Summary (IBList user synopsis):

Schiller's "romantic tragedy" of Johanna von Orleans (Jean d'Arc). The maiden leads the beleaguered French to astonishing victories over the English and reconciles the French ruler Carl with Du Chatel, who had joined the English in the uprising against them. When she encounters the mysterious Black Knight in a battle against the English, however, Johanna is struck with self-doubt and makes no effort to defend herself when she comes under suspicion of practising witchcraft. Fleeing from the French court, she falls into the hands of the English.
