Summary

The Reverend Jebediah Mercer seeks shelter at a farmhouse where the owner has already taken in a deputy escorting a convict to his hanging. That night the owner tells the men of a short-cut to the nearest town, a place known as Deadman's Road, where it is said the corpse of a beekeeper roams at night.
