Hal Jeffries is trapped in his apartment because of a broken leg. Day by day, he watches his neighbors through his rear window - and one day he is certain he's discovered a murder... Originally published in the February 1942 edition of Dime Detective as It Had to Be Murder. Woolrich changed the title to Rear Window two years later when he included the story in his collection After-Dinner Story, published under his William Irish pseudonym. Also appears in:
