Summary
(From the publisher):
Pete Schofield had been expecting a quiet evening at home with Jeannie, but she had ideas of going to a cocktail party. Reluctantly Pete went with her, and soon forgot his dislike of parties when he was introduced to the beautiful blonde, Carol Dundee. Several hours and many martinis later, she confessed that she had a problem that needed the personal attention of a private investigator like Pete, and he, somewhat carelessly, agreed with her. He couldn't remember very much about the party when he woke up with a hangover the next morning. Jeannie was more informative, giving Pete all the sordid details - sordid, that is, in a wife's eyes. Then, shockingly, Pete remembered something Jeannie didn't now. Carol Dundee had told him there was a dead man in her drive, and Pete had promised to help her.
